Get to know the team at Escape Ipswich

Although part of a franchise, Escape Ipswich is a small, independent business owned by Ipswich born-and-raised Sue Crocker, and her partner Alison. Sue opened the business in October 2017 (on Friday 13th, would you believe it?!) with three exciting rooms, before expanding to six rooms in less than a year.

Meet the management

Sue, owner

“I first had the idea to open Escape Ipswich after listening to Simon Mayo’s Drivetime show on Radio 2, back in 2016, when he was talking about escape rooms with one of his listeners. Some people thought it was an unusual choice of business, but it’s proven to be not only a sound business decision, but an interesting and varied job! My team meets so many diverse people every week.

I’m a huge lover of puzzles and escape rooms: in fact, I own over 50 board games! I’m a big Agatha Christie fan too. Sub Zero is my favourite room of ours as it’s so immersive and authentic looking.

I’m very excited to share that our newest game, Framed and Forgotten is now live to book!

hannah, business manager

“I’m Hannah, I’ve been with Escape nearly 5 years and Business Manager for just over 1 year now. Since starting here I’ve run over 2000 games! I’m a very customer-oriented person so this job is a perfect fit. I meet so many lovely new people every day, from newbies, to enthusiasts alike, which is another perk!

Being manager also allows me to channel my creative side, brainstorming puzzles with my Creative Supervisor, Lily, and most recently: painting and decorating the whole building! I’m obsessed with anything paranormal and love horror films, so I love running Locked Inn, and our new game Framed and Forgotten is quickly proving to be a new favourite!”

lily, creative supervisor

“Hi, I’m Lily. I started at Escape in 2019 as Games Master and became Creative Supervisor in February 2023. My education in Art & Design means I that when I’m not running games and greeting customers, I’m creating content for our social media and website, as well as thinking of puzzles and ideas for our rooms.

I’m a massive escape room enthusiast and have done over 30 rooms all over the UK and abroad, but my favourite is still our Renaissance Genius room! I had a great time making some of the props and adding details to the décor.

In my spare time, you can find me in my home studio making ceramics and painting.”
